Secure data transfer and storage

Once the backup software is ready to transfer your data to our system, the data is compressed to minimise your bandwidth usage and is transferred using a secure SSL connection.

Your data is stored in an encrypted format, using an encryption key known only to you. The encryption algorithm used is many times more secure than the encryption used in Internet Banking.

Minimised transfer times

Once the software starts the backup process, it compresses the files that require backup, encrypts them and then sends them securely to our data centre. The first backup is generally always the biggest since it needs to transfer all the files you have selected. Every subsequent backup will only send the changes made since your last backup, this minimises the usage of your bandwidth and increases the speed of the whole backup process.

If your internet connection was to fail during a backup, the software is clever enough to know where it left off and will continue from that point once your internet connection returns or on your next scheduled backup.

Restoring / recovering data

Restoring or recovering your data is simple. Just use the backup software to choose the files that you want restored and where you want them restored to. The system keeps a history of changes made to your files, this means that you can recover previously backed up versions of a file, up to 30 days old.

Web Access

You can even recover or access your files online through our web access site, this provides you with a way to access your backed up data from any Internet connected computer. The web access site also allows you to upload files from any internet connected PC to your backup space.

Automatic Backups

Once you have set up your backup schedule, Bob the Backup is completely automatic so you never need to remember to backup again.
